The story is about a beagle beginning with

happy times as a puppy frolicking about with her mother, brothers, and sisters. She is purchased from a pet store and, as happens so often, it is not long until the contentment and security of her young life turns to one of hardship for survival. But there is a happy ending and she does find her 'forever home'.
